“ My friend and I went for the Christmas brunch. Unfortunately there were no reservations left when we tried to book. But we were determined so we showed up 15 minutes before the restaurant opened for brunch. We were the second group in line. All the tables were reserved when we checked in but the bar was luckily first come first serve. AND we also discovered that there was a special - if you sat at the bar for brunch that day you got 50% off! So we got brunch for $16 instead of $32! I'm not sure if that was only that day or if that applies to other days too. The brunch spread is epic - there is an egg table with everything egg related, a dessert table with a chocolate fondue fountain and ice cream and just about every dessert you can think of, taco section, French toast, bacon, grits, macaroni and cheese, all sorts of meats! My friend and I ended up eating 3 platefuls and were SO stuffed. (And all for $16!) The decorations were also insanely creative and festive and a delight to look at. All in all, Chief O'Neill's Christmas brunch is definitely one that is worth it. ”
“ Beautiful holiday decorations inside. Wonderful Sun brunch buffet. Around $33. Better than Pinstripes & Chocolate Santuary brunch buffet. Stand outs from the brunch include corned beef hash, smoked salmon, deviled eggs, eggs benedict, fish & chips, fried shrimp, ribs, potato croquettes, tiramisu, chocolate covered strawberries & chocolate fountain. Good service. Easy parking. You have to add this to your breakfast rotation! ”
“ It had been years since I had been here for brunch. Not sure why we haven't made more visits here; maybe because it is not on a main walking strip and you do have to make an effort to go there. The day we showed up, it was a beautiful day and we were able to sit outside with our friends, which I was not even aware of as the last time we were here was in the winter. I will give Chief props on the selection of foods they offer during their buffet selections. There is something there for everyone: salads, seafood, meat, pasta, fish & chips, cheese, pastries, you name it. Food is solid and fresh and they keep it coming out of the kitchen. Of course I did the bottomless mimosas, but for those of you who like the Bloody option, they do have a Bloody Mary bar. And we had a nice surprise while dining...someone was celebrating something (not sure what), but we got to hear a bagpipe serenade and I love the bagpipe, so it was a win for me. Buffet is a win for sure, but think I need to go back and just try the regular menu. ”
“ Sam was an excellent waiter! Kind and attentive well done!! The place is decorated to the nines and is so gorgeous!!! Lights everywhere and really puts you in the Christmas spirit! Bf got the pot pie and cheddar soup and loved both ! I tried the pot pie and it was tasty! For drinks we got the hot toddy and you're right my love and both were phenomenal ! ”
“ Great space for a family dinner. The holiday decor was what drew us in, but we will be back for sure. It's just a very warm and cozy interior with friendly staff and a solid menu. Most of my family just ordered burgers are gave them a thumbs up. I had the chicken pot pie which was a perfect hearty dish, but I was eyeing the Guinness stew my husband ordered. I might have to get that next time! ”
“ Would absolutely recommend this place during Christmas. The owner was very accommodating to our party and went above and beyond for us. ”
“ Definitely come here for the iconic Christmas decor, vibes, and live Irish music! We dined here on a Sunday night and loved the little Irish band in the corner. The decorations and old-timely feel really made this restaurant experience so special. We enjoyed the complementary Irish soda bread (kind of sweet tasting) and also ordered scrumptious cheese curds for the table. My glass of house Cabernet Sauvignon was tasty and rich with the meal, so I opted for one of their tequila cocktails on the menu after which was nice and refreshing. I had never really had Irish food before so ordered the Shepherd's pie not knowing what it was. Unfortunately it wasn't the type of dish I typically like- basically ground sauced meat with mashed potatoes on top. Not for me, nor was my boyfriend's corned beef. My side salad was good though, and my friend's fish fry was more up my alley. Service was great. I'll just have to order differently next time and check out their nice beer garden in better weather! ”
“ The namesake of this place lived a really storied and interesting life. And apparently traditional, Irish music was his shared love with the family who owns this pub. As a result, you're not only walking into a restaurant, but are immersed into an Irish culture. All that said, I had the Guinness & Cheddar soup which was amazing, as well as the Shepherds Pie which was equally as delicious. On top of all that, the service and interaction with everyone who worked here was super friendly and instantly made me feel like I was stepping into a family gathering. ”
“ A neighborhood gem with friendly and attentive staff. We love the casual vibes, but this unassuming Irish bar has good food. A bit sweet, but our go-to is Calamari & Shrimp. We also frequently get the Steamed Mussels. Honestly, their apps can serve as entrees! Whether we're sitting at the bar, inside or outside in their back patio, it was always a fun time. ”
“ One of the most beautiful patios in Chicago. It's a great place to kick back and enjoy a cocktail. This place is perfect for the fall and winter months too. It's filled with memorabilia and is the very definition of comfort food. Husband and wife owners work the hostess stand and bar and could not be friendlier. It's a nice neighborhood place ”
